Pokemon Go Events Launch in Birmingham

Karys Playing Pokemon at an Event

As COVID restrictions have begun to ease across the UK, Team Norse Thunder has launched a new program of Pokemon Go events to run throughout May and June.

While indoor venues like cafes and game stores are re-opening, the 'rule of six' and social distancing requirements remain in place. This means that in-person, tabletop events are unlikely to be able to happen.

However, the planned Pokemon Go events will bring together budding trainers from across Birmingham. The socially-distanced Pokemon walks will take in some of the city's hotspots and include gym battles, raids, and plenty of new Pokemon being caught.

Speaking about the upcoming events schedule, Team Norse Thunder's Dave Scotford said: "The last year or so has been rough for a lot of people, so we're all looking forward to life getting back to normal.

"Team Norse Thunder has always been about bringing people together to play games, make friends, and have fun, and that's not something we've been able to do in the same way since lockdown and other restrictions came in.

"Pokemon Go events aren't something we've done before, but we all play the game and we're looking forward to getting started. It will be nice to get out in the city and play for a couple of hours in a safe way."

The events are free to take part in, and more information and sign up is available on the team's Facebook events page.
